tick tock.

Every day we fight for something that we hope can make our life in the future much better than before. However, have you ever think about dying?

Here some dialog between Mitch and his professor, Morrie, that catched me when I am reading Tuesday with Morrie:

Why is it so hard to think about dying?
“Because,” Morrie continued, “most of us all walk around as if we’re sleepwalking. We really don’t experience the world fully, because we’re half-asleep, doing things we automatically think we have to do.”
And facing death changes all that?
“Oh, yes. You strip away all that stuff and you focus on the essentials. When you realize you are going to die, you see everything much differently.
He sighed. “Learn how to die, and you learn how to live."

And this:

How can you ever be prepared to die?
“Do what the Buddhists do. Every day, have a little bird on your shoulder that asks, ‘Is today the day? Am I ready? Am I doing all I need to do? Am I being the person I want to be?”
He turned his head to his shoulder as if the bird were there now.
“Is today the day I die?” he said.

Read the news everyday, which mostly content about the victims of Covid-19, is really something that always makes heartbreak. Seems like there’s no other words that I could say except “Stay safe, everyone” again, again and again.

Some of us believe that life can be a long journey, but.. who knows?
